California Diaries
I really wish they'd continued writing the California Diaries. Poor Sunny. I'm reading her Diary 2 (I'd read it years ago as a kid but don't really remember it) and it's just so... depressing. I think it was stupid to end the series just because BSC was done-they were an entirely separate series and they could have continued (and even aged!) and I think they would have done really well.
When 10 Year Old Jeff Schafer Knows More Than You
Oh, Claudia. I'm reading California Girls, and one of the humorous subplots is Jeff and his friend Rob's "who is the bigger deadhead" competition. Now, I really can buy Claudia not knowing what a deadhead is. I mean, I can't really picture Rioko and John Kishi rocking out to the Grateful Dead, or Janine for that matter. But Claudia does not know what the Grateful Dead is. At all. Bearing in mind that Jack mentioned that Jeff was waiting to get tickets to their concert.
I mean, I know it's Claudia, but really?
Of course, this is the book where she asks Rioko and John and poor Janine on two separate postcards "who are you?" so maybe I shouldn't be so surprised.
