I posted a journal entry about ELR -- 2/3 links are DOA.

Three entries of memes requiring interaction with others

personal

Gregory? Still in Thailand. Aunt Linda? Still oblivious to the fact that Gregory and I haven't actually spoken in years.

But whatever, I figure I'll humor her by posting these Blink182 music videos. lol she'd be happy if she knew how to use livejournal.

Videos were: the rockshow/man overboard/dammit

TV Tropes is addicting. Very addicting. I have been trying to decide my tropes for the 10_tropes challenge (if I even decide to do it) and it's quite distracting!

Sorry I haven't been around much -- I've been helping my cousin out and going to DJ's games and I was just on spring break -- but I think that I needed a bit of a break. I should be back more now.

I've been spending a lot of time on the SHS 2012 rpg -- it's a lot of fun.

So this is a meme that I've been meaning to do for awhile -- a few people on my friends list did it, and I've had it sitting on my computer for a few months now. It's the Shipping Meme, which I will be doing a few questions at a time, since knowing me I'll accidentally forget about it.

Current Favorite Ship: Everybody Loves Raymond, Ray and Debra Barone

I really like Ray and Debra because they are a realistic couple that has their differences and fights on occasion but really seems to love each other, and that's what counts in a marriage.

My Very First Ship: Sweet Valley High, Steven Wakefield and Cara Walker

Yes, Steven and Cara, not any of the couples featured in the BSC books, were my very first ship, admittedly started because I thought Tricia Martin's perm looked ridiculous on the cover of When Love Dies. (I was seven, okay?) I was at that age where I mostly glossed over the relationships between BSC members and their boyfriends and barely noticed anyone in any of my series that was an adult, so therefore the fact that eighteen year old Steven Wakefield was dating sixteen year old Cara Walker -- and later almost married her -- well, that sent my seven year old heart into flutters because it was so romantic.

A pairing that needs to happen now: Sweet Valley: Steven Wakefield and Billie Winkler (or anyone besides Aaron, I'm not picky, I promise, Francine!)

Dear Francine Pascal,

We need to talk. You have ruined the Sweet Valley series due to that travesty of a novel known as Sweet Valley Confidential, but I promise that if you fix a few things you can somewhat redeem yourself. That relationship you've materialized out of nowhere, you know, Steven and Aaron? It really makes no sense. And really while the twins had no qualms about sharing boyfriends (don't think I've recovered from Jessica and Todd being married!) Steven would not date someone who dated Jessica. And I'm pretty sure he's straight. But if you put Steven and Billie -- who were a wonderful couple in later SVH and SVU -- back together I might actually purchase the continuation series.

No Love.

The Pairing With The Most Chemistry: Sweet Valley, Steven Wakefield and Billie Winkler

In lieu of a photograph, I am going to illustrate that with a choice quote, courtesy of The Evil Twin:
"Let's put the movie on pause," Billie suggested, sitting up on the couch so she could reach the remote control. She hit the stop button for the VCR and the movie disappeared, a local TV news program taking its place. "I mean, who are we kidding? We're not watching it!"

Steven lowered her back against the pile of throw pillows. "Speak for yourself," he teased as he pressed kisses all the way up her throat to her chin. "I haven't taken my eyes off the screen for a second."

Billie wrapped her arms around his waist and their lips met in another leisurely, delicious kiss. "Umm," Steven murmured, "I guess you're right. Who needs movies? Real-life love scenes are a lot more fun!"

"We've got to be careful not to steam up the windows too much, though," Billie said with a throaty laugh. "What'll your sisters think?"

Steven didn't really care. He couldn't focus on anything except how good it felt being there with Billie. "I wish we could stay like this forever," he told her, brushing a strand of hair back from her forehead. "I don't think I'd ever get tired of kissing you."

She smiled, playing with the buttons on his polo shirt. "You better not, buddy!"

Their mouths melted together in another kiss as hot as a forest fire. Steven closed his eyes, giving himself up to the magic.

The Pairing With The Least Chemistry: Everybody Loves Raymond: Robert and Amy Barone

Oh, Robert and Amy, considering that the BSC is one of my fandoms and you two are the couple with the least chemistry, there is a problem. The problem is is that Amy was one of the most boring characters the show had -- including Ally, Geoffrey and Michael -- and they made her and Robert the beta couple and entered them into the world's most ridiculous on and off relationships. Really, it got tedious.

The Best Kiss: Everybody Loves Raymond, Ray and Debra Barone

The Most Heartbreaking Scene: Sweet Valley, Steven and Bille

From Broken Promises, Shattered Dreams, it's the scene at the end after Billie has the miscarriage where they're talking in their apartment and they're blaming themselves for their losing their baby.

The Pairing With The Most Baggage: The Baby Sitters Club, Richard Spier and Sharon Spier

(Poor Dawn and Richard -- this is a rather unflattering picture of them.)

Oh, Richard and Sharon. While I think that they are truly meant to be, it was obvious that they both have a lot of baggage in their pasts. Richard was widowed at a young age and had to raise Mary Anne on his own for thirteen (well, minus the time she spend in Iowa) years while maintaining a career as a lawyer and whatnot, without the support of family or any close friends (save Elizabeth Thomas and Mimi) that we know of, not to mention that whole debacle with Sharon and her parents hating him. And then of course we have Sharon who moved clear across the country after her divorce to live closer to her parents, struggled to find a job, had to send both her kids back to live with their dad (which must have been so hard on her) etc. They remet, married each other, and then their house burnt down. So, yeah, Richard and Sharon definitely have the most baggage out of all of the couples I ship

The Most Believable Relationship: Sweet Valley, Steven and Billie

They actually had a normal, healthy, realistic relationship for two college students that lived together. It was a bit bizarre, coming from Sweet Valley, but it was still sweet.

Why Aren't These Two Married In Real Life?: Ray Romano and Patricia Heaton

HAHAHAHAHAHA BC SHE'S A FUNDIE -- ed note, added in 2022

Note that I do not actually ship Ray and Patricia together -- I simply think that they have the possiblity of being a good couple were they to chose so.

What Is My Dream Pairing: either Baby Sitters Club, Byron/Jeff or Sweet Valley, Steven/Billie

Yes, it does irritate me muchly that SVC rendered my favorite SV pairing null and void, how on earth did you guess?

Who Had The Best Wedding? Baby Sitters Club, Richard and Sharon and Everybody Loves Raymond, Ray and Debra

Even as a kid, oblivious though I was to the fact that there was romance in the BSC series, there was nothing I enjoyed more than reading about a good wedding. Weddings had cake! And flowers! And gift baskets with cool stuff in them! In fact, I actually brought this book to my aunt and uncle's wedding -- my mother almost died when three of my drunk relatives pointed out that said aunt and Sharon had the exact same dress on. Me? I was so proud I knew someone who'd taken fashion advice from the BSC! Also I liked this book because the concept of best friends becoming sisters intrigued me, and Dawn and Mary Anne were my favorite sitters.

This was like the second episode of Everybody Loves Raymond that I ever saw. I watched it with Auntie Linda and Gregory Andrew and Kaitlyn and thought it was just so romantic -- it made Aunt Linda cry, but really, what doesn't? -- and it pretty much cemented my love for the show. Ray and Debra are so sweet together.

Favorite Television Pairing: Everybody Loves Raymond: Ray and Debra Barone

Favorite Book Pairings: BSC: Richard/Sharon, Sam/Stacey, non canon pairings and SV: Steven/Billie, Liz/Tom, Jess/Mike, Lila/Bruce

Favorite Real Life Couple: David and Victoria Beckham

I really like them as a couple.

The Absolute Worst Pairing: Sweet Valley Confidential, Todd Wilkins and Jessica Wakefield.

This may be Todd and Liz. I can't tell. It's still wrong.

A Pairing I Never Thought Would Work Out But Did: Sweet Valley Lila and Bruce

Cutest Pairing: BSC: Byron and Jeff

The fic featuring them is so adorable. It really is.

A Pairing I've Rooted For Since The Beginning: BSC: Richard/Sharon, SV: Steven/Billie

Can't Stand the Sexual Tension Anymore: Frasier: Niles/Daphne
